The five key points of the Aristotle project the starting point for the Pentateams project
The Pentateams project, which aims to improve interpersonal relations, diversity and team cohesion at work, draws its inspiration from the ‘Aristotle project’, launched in 2012 by Google, which aimed to discover the general models and principles behind the most effective teams. Five key points were identified, which we are going to present to you today because they are the starting point for the Pentateams project and our activities:
– Psychological safety is the extent to which individuals feel safe within their team or organisation to take interpersonal risks. When employees feel psychologically safe, they are more inclined to engage in constructive dialogue, which improves problem-solving and decision-making processes and cultivates a sense of belonging and inclusion.
– Dependability between colleagues is the shared ability and trust within a team to produce quality work. A reliable team will be entrusted with more and more opportunities, which will promote its own growth and that of the company, its reputation will be enhanced and its members will feel valued, supported and empowered.
– Structure and clarity in a team environment is the fundamental element that shapes the effectiveness, productivity and overall success of teams and organisations. It fosters an inclusive and collaborative working environment.
– Meaning in the workplace lies in the individual’s perception of their role and its significance. It is the cornerstone of effective teamwork, fostering a cohesive, high-performance environment and teams that are motivated, fulfilled and driven by a common goal.
– Impact in the workplace encompasses the substantial and measurable changes that result from individual contributions and team collaboration within an organisation. It influences organisational culture and practices, creating a welcoming and rewarding working environment, which in turn enhances staff engagement and retention.
