How to identify and align your values with those of your organization

Personal values play a crucial role in shaping our behavior, motivation and job satisfaction. Identifying these values and aligning them with the organization’s objectives helps to create a more committed, motivated and successful team and a healthier workplace.

As a manager, your role is also to set a good example. In addition, understanding and respecting your values enables you to lead your team with greater integrity and motivation.

Here are a few tips to help you achieve this:

  • Think about your values and identify them: what is most important to you personally and professionally? Take the time to get to know yourself better and understand your motivations.
  • Align your actions with your values: make sure that your actions consistently reflect your stated values. If this is not always the case, ask yourself why.
  • Align your values with the organization’s objectives: this will strengthen your motivation and sense of purpose at work, as well as enabling you to manage with determination and integrity.
  • Encourage your team members to follow the same action plan. This will promote team cohesion and motivation, with individuals inspired by shared values and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
